PTV AG takes the protection of personal data very seriously. We want you to know when we store certain data and how we use it. As a company incorporated under private law, we are subject to the terms of the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG). In both technical and organisational terms, we have taken action to ensure that the regulations on data protection are observed by us and also by our external service providers.

Data storage

Personal data are information which can be used to learn your identity and includes information like your real name, address, postal address and telephone number. It does not include information which cannot be directly connected with your real identity (such as favourite websites or number of users of a site).

You can use our online programmes without revealing your identity. When you register for one of our personalised services, order a product or book a seminar, we ask you for your name and other personal information. It is up to you whether you enter this data.

We store your data on specially protected servers in Germany. Access is only granted to a few authorised people who handle the technical, commercial or editorial management of these servers.

In association with your access to our website, data are stored for back-up purposes and could possibly lead to identification (such as IP address, date, time and pages viewed). This data is not put to any person-related use. The right to make statistical evaluations based on depersonalised data records is reserved.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will store and use your e-mail address in order to send you our newsletter. We will not forward your personal data to third parties or use it for other purposes. You can always unsubscribe from the newsletter.

Passing on personal information to third parties

When you place product orders, we only use your personal information within PTV AG and affiliated companies.

If data is passed on to service providers as part of order data processing, the latter are subject to the BDSG and other legal regulations and are contractually bound by the privacy policy of PTV AG. What is more, we will not give your personal data to third parties without your express consent.

We will pass your data on to entities entitled to collect information if we have an obligation to do so by law or under a court order.

Right to rescission

You have the right to delete at any time any personal data with which you have supplied us. Data for accounting and bookkeeping purposes are not affected by termination or, respectively, deletion.

Use of cookies

We use "cookies" (small files with configuration data) in compliance with the requirements of the German Association for Verification of the Circulation of Advertising Media (IVW). These cookies help to establish the frequency of use and the number of users of our website. We do not use cookies to acquire any personal data.

In some sections of our online programme, we use cookies to implement user functions. You are informed accordingly when this is the case. On certain pages, advertisements by companies or agencies are supplied directly and here cookies may possibly be used without us being able to alert you beforehand.

Our website can also be used without cookies. Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. However, you can deactivate cookie storage or set your browser to inform you as soon as cookies are sent.

Anonymous data collection

This website uses etracker and WiredMinds technology (www.etracker.com, www.wiredminds.de) to collect data on visitor behavior. The data is collected anonymously for use in marketing and optimization. All visitor data is saved using an anonymous user ID and can be used to aggregate a usage profile. Cookies may be used for this purpose. Cookies are small text files that are stored in the visitor’s local browser cache. It is possible to use these cookies to recognize a visitor’s browser. The data collected by the etracker technology will not be used to determine the personal identity of a website visitor, and will not be compiled with personal data relating to the person referred to by the pseudonym, unless agreed to separately by the person concerned.

The collection and storage of data may be revoked at any time with respect to future services.

Children

No persons under 18 years of age should provide us with personal data without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. We do not request any personal data from children and neither collect it nor pass it on to third parties.

Links to other websites

Our website includes links to other websites. We have no influence on whether the operators of such websites comply with data protection regulations.

Despite careful content monitoring, we cannot assume any liability for the content of external links. Solely the operators of such linked websites are responsible for the content.

Special terms for telecommunications services

If you use a paid-for or free telecommunications service that we offer, the following supplementary terms apply:

To identify, determine the scope of and remedy disruptions and defects in telecommunications systems, PTV AG and the telecommunications companies co-operating with the same have the right to acquire, process and use the user's basic and connection data (e.g. target number and target code), start and end of connection with time), insofar as necessary in the case in hand.

If the relevant requirements are met, PTV AG and the telecommunications companies co-operating with the same also hold the above right if such action is necessary to reveal or stop unauthorised or other illegal use of telecommunication networks and services.

PTV AG will only provide law enforcement authorities, courts or other statutory government or state authorities with information on messages and data that have been stored, received, sent or disseminated or on content and personal data as far as obliged to do so by legal requirements.

PTV AG has the right to

  • use depersonalised user information to prepare statistics and trend identification surveys and for quality management and market research;
  • supply depersonalised user information to advertising customers - for demographic purposes.
